Consortium of Arts and Crafts Centres of Slovenia

Introduction

The Consortium of Arts and Crafts Centres of Slovenia is an advocacy association that aims to co create the legal foundations of the status of craftsmen and strategic development of craftsmanship in Slovenia. Through its activities, it also encourages higher quality handicraft products, wide promotion of handicrafts and connects all the nine Arts and Crafts centres in Slovenia. The Consortium endeavours to safeguard and develop intangible cultural heritage, craftsmanship on a national level. It is part of a government working group for the reform of the systemic regulation in the field of handicrafts. It is currently involved in the preparation of a national Act on the Preservation and Development of Handicrafts as initiator and main stakeholder. All Consortium members work strongly on local and regional level, and unite their experience in the Consortium to focus on influencing and forming national policies. The Consortium also organises regular thematic events and round tables, collaborates with all relevant partners for strategic development, organises handicraft festivals and summer camps and also has experience in implementing EU projects (CLLD project Stories of hand and places).
