Transforming Jász shepherd's coat patterns to patterns of wearable outfits

About the pilot action

The aim of the pilot project in Jászberény (LP) is to reinterpret and revive the traditional motifs and design language of Jász embroidery by involving local and regional creative artists and communities. The project focuses on designing and producing textiles that combine these jointly created patterns into unique, contemporary pieces adapted to modern tastes, including wearable garments. A key objective is to establish a brand for these new products, ensuring the long-term visibility and sustainability of the initiative. Ultimately, the pilot lays the foundation for Jászberény’s own cultural and creative branding.

The Jászberény pilot project focuses on reviving and reinterpreting Jász embroidery through creative workshops, design sessions, and knowledge exchange. Participants explore pattern-making, the placement of Jász motifs, and the creation of modern, adaptable garments, jewelry, and textile collections using traditional folk costume elements. Experimental cutting and sewing allow hands-on practice with prefabricated patterns. A design competition selects entries and develops branding, logos, and slogans. Textile craftsmen and external manufacturers produce the collections, covering occasion, sports, uniform, and casual wear. Professional photography and video document the process. The pilot culminates in a fashion show on the Day of the City, where the outfits and project film are presented to the public and media, highlighting the cultural and creative outcomes.

The pilot project in Jászberény creates a collection of at least eight outfits made from textiles featuring unique Jász motifs, along with small souvenir items. A marketing plan and local branding will be developed through a design competition and the involvement of professional designers. The results will be presented at a fashion show on the Day of the City in April 2026, the collection will be ready to mobilize when the city has the chance to showcase its cultural products at any events.
