Thematic relevance

Budapest Metropolitan University’s Tourism Institute is part of the Faculty of Business, Communication, and Tourism, offering both a BSc in Tourism and Catering and an MSc in Tourism Management. The master’s curriculum strongly emphasizes cultural, creative, and heritage tourism, as well as destination management, sustainable planning, and experience design. METU uses a highly practical, project-based learning model. Its “Turizmus Műhely” (Tourism Workshop) provides students with hands-on experience through real projects, research, idea generation, and collaboration with industry professionals. The institute also runs a “Tourism Research Lab,” where students contribute to semester-long research projects and publish results in professional journals. On the project side, METU has been deeply involved in the Veszprém–Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture initiative.
