Introduction
The Regional Development Agency for Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije (RDA BKP), founded in 2009 with support from the Austrian Development Agency, works to strengthen sustainable development in the northern Montenegrin region. Building on 15 years of experience, the agency supports municipalities, rural communities and businesses in tourism, agriculture, and local economic growth. RDA BKP assists stakeholders in planning, project development and accessing EU and other international funds. With a grassroots approach and a skilled team, the agency promotes inclusive regional development.

Thematic relevance
RDA BKP plays a key role in advancing cultural and tourism development in the Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije region. The organisation has pioneered rural tourism in Montenegro, helping over 300 households diversify their income by preserving and showcasing traditional lifestyles, gastronomy and local crafts. Through community engagement, thematic workshops and mentoring, RDA BKP strengthens cultural identity while improving service quality and visitor experiences. Many of its EU-funded projects focus on cultural heritage interpretation, sustainable tourism products, and linking agriculture with tourism. Its award-winning work in documenting and promoting mountain gastronomy highlights the agency’s strong contribution to safeguarding and promoting the region’s cultural assets.
